Introduction to Gaelic Football

One experience that didn't make it onto the list of things I might do whilst in Nebbi was to be introduced to Gaelic Football.  On Saturday 1 October 2016, the All Irelands final was played at Croke Park in Dublin between Dublin and County Mayo.

Staying at Adraa with three committed County Mayo supports lead to an invitation to join them to watch the match via an internet feed.  This wasn't as easy as it may first appear as there is no mobile network at Adraa or indeed in the immediate neighbourhood.  So the four of us drove the 20km or so back into Nebbi and headed for a bar where we watched the game.

County Mayo's hopes were high.  They last won the final in 1951 and so were eager to break the curse that has dogged them since.  Sadly the curse prevailed and County Mayo lost a nail biting final 1:15 to 1:14.
